About us

We believe that to be a good German Shepherd dog breeder, you need to know more than just the understanding of different GSD bloodlines. A good breeder needs to be working personally with each of their dogs to understand each dogs character , strengths and weaknesses. While many dogs may appear perfect in a stress free environment, the faults in their temperament are only evident when they are under some form of stress. A rigorous training program, such as Schutzhund, places a dog in stressful environments and by personally training a dog for such a program, a breeder can evaluate the character of dog.

No dog is perfect. As breeders, we strive to be honest with ourselves and with our dogs. We know the dogs character as we are personally involved in their training. First, this allows us to determine if the dog is breed worthy or not. Secondly, it allows us to determine the positives and negatives in the temperament and ability of the individual dog, allowing us to find an appropriate breeding partner for the dog at hand - who will complement the dog's strengths and will help improve upon areas of weakness.

This is our breeding philosophy at BESCHUTZER and this simple breeding philosophy allows us to produce nice balanced puppies from our breedings.
